While the difference between "I am" and "I'm" is slight, they are the same subject-verb combination; where they differ is in whether they are in formal speech vs conversation when formality is not an issue.

"I'm": ( i&apos )

A contraction of "I am".  It is not formal and very common when speaking in person.

For example:

"I'm happy to help."

"I am":

As a longer version is more formal in writing, or it is used to put emphasis in a sentence.

Examples
